Notes

Notes is a powerful feature for writing and organizing all the information for your project, from plot and characters to research and world lore. Unlike a simple text editor, Notes is designed to help you build complex, interconnected systems like wikis, knowledge bases, and codex.

Each Notes page can link to other pages, allowing you to create a network of interconnected information. This structure not only makes it easy for you to navigate your work, but it also helps AI models (LLMs) understand the context of your project, making it simple to ask questions about your content.

The sidebar on the left acts as your main navigation, displaying a hierarchical view of your content. To create a new category, just click the + icon at the top of the toolbar. Once the new category is created, click the header on the page to rename it.

There are two ways to create a new page in Notes mode:

  1. From within an existing note — Type a forward slash / followed by the name of your new page. This instantly creates a link in your current note that, when clicked, takes you directly to the newly created page.

  2. From the top menu — Click the + icon at the top of the screen. A dropdown menu will appear — select Create Note to open a new, blank page.

You can link to any existing page directly from within your notes using the @ symbol.

  1. Place your cursor anywhere in your note where you want the link to appear.

  2. Type the @ symbol to trigger the page search dropdown.

  3. Browse or search for the page you want to link to.

  4. Select the page — it will be inserted as a clickable link that takes you directly to that page.

If you are building something similar to a wiki, you can add a Table of Contents to your page. This automatically generates links to your headings, making it easy for readers to navigate long pages.

  1. In the top menu bar, click Add.

  2. Select Table of Contents from the dropdown.

  3. The Table of Contents will be inserted into your notes page.

Once added, every H1 heading you create will automatically appear as a navigational link in the Table of Contents.
